The 2008/2009 Adult Ukrainian Dance Groups
The current Zorianka Adult dance group was started in 2002 as a bunch of adults who just
wanted to Ukrainian dance. With cousin Vinny as our catalyst, 16 men and women got
together Sunday evenings for 1½ hours of exercise and comradery. Now 6 years later, we
are one of the largest adult groups in Edmonton at 17 dancers, and we still get together
Sunday evenings for an hour and a half, continuing to learn new dances to add to our
collected works. For the serious dancers, we attend competitions from Lloydminister to
Airdrie and we also dance at the year end performance with the entire club.
For those who are looking for something slightly less challenging, we have started an adult
only exercise class Monday evenings which runs for 1 ¼ hours. Mondays, we learn all types
of dance besides Ukrainian dance; the Viennese waltz, the Cha-cha, the Tango, and the
heel/toe polka to name a few.
